The citizens of DuPont expect responsiveness when they dial 9-1-1. Sadly, the council has not protected the interests of the citizens in this regard but allowing the reallocation of monies meant to serve the citizens public safety interests. The 900 pound gorilla in the room is the Civic Center debt and its impact on what the city may want versus what it needs at its core to function. My opponent’s unwillingness to admit responsibility for that bad decision now clouds all subsequent solutions to define and fund public safety.
DuPont needs a decisive plan. That plan must prioritize the funding of EMS, Police, and Fire Service over a building or other superficial wants of our city council.
I was vocal during the Proposition 1 Ballot initiative last November and my view has not changed. Give the citizens of DuPont a real choice and their wisdom will prevail.
